These are the works of potter Yuuki Abe, who creates pottery in Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture.
Ms. Abe values "the interesting shapes, textures, and patterns that clay naturally creates." She mainly produces the "Tetsue" series, where patterns are drawn with iron-containing pigments, and the "Hibi-e" series, where patterns are created by cracks in white slip.
Having worked in architecture, many of her pieces feature very modern designs, and she also pays close attention to creating textures that evoke the natural qualities unique to ceramics.
