These are the works of Yuuki Abe, a ceramist who creates pottery in Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture.
Ms. Abe values "the interesting shapes, textures, and patterns that clay naturally creates." Her main series include "Tetsu-e" (iron-picture), where patterns are drawn with iron-containing pigments, and "Hibie" (crack-picture), where patterns are created by cracks in white slip.
Having previously worked in architecture, many of her pieces feature very modern designs, and she is particular about creating textures that evoke the natural feel unique to ceramics.
