These are works by Yuki Abe, a ceramic artist who creates pottery in Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture.
Ms. Abe values "the interesting shapes, textures, and patterns that clay naturally creates." She mainly produces the "Tetsue" series, in which patterns are drawn with iron-containing pigments, and the "Hibi-e" series, in which patterns are created using cracks in white slip.
Having previously worked in architecture, many of her pieces feature very modern designs, and she is particular about creating textures that evoke the natural feel unique to ceramics.
