This is a work by ceramic artist Yuki Abe, who creates pottery in Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture.
Ms. Abe values "the interesting shapes, textures, and patterns that clay naturally creates." She mainly produces the "Tetsue" series, where patterns are drawn with iron-containing pigments, and the "Hibie" series, where patterns are created by cracks in white slip.
Having previously worked in architecture, many of her works feature very modern designs, and she is also particular about creating textures that evoke the natural feel unique to ceramics.
