Mutsumi Ohashi, who has a studio in Hokuto City, Yamanashi Prefecture, creates works that strongly bring out the characteristics of the earth.

The coexistence of these two aspects is where Ohashi's charm lies.

Mr. Ohashi uses both a wood-fired kiln, which he fires only a few times a year, and an oil-fired kiln, which he uses daily.
He uses the ash produced in the wood-fired kiln as ash glaze and fires it in the oil-fired kiln, creating his works by moving back and forth between processes.

This time, he is also attempting to re-fire works that were fired in an oil-fired kiln in a wood-fired kiln.
Each work, after circulating through the elements of earth, fire, and ash, returns to the flames once more.

The power that conveys the energy of nature, and the quiet gaze that confronts materials and processes.
