This piece is by Youji Matsuoka, who creates works at his blown glass studio in Yamato City, Kanagawa Prefecture.
Many of Mr. Matsuoka's vessels feature gentle, rounded designs, with some even named "Marui" (meaning "round").
In addition to his series of clear, slightly amber-tinted glass, he also offers a new series of colored glass.
They have a good thickness, fit very comfortably in the hand, and are suitable for everyday use.
When the round, transparent glass captures light, it creates a warm spot in the space.
