Miyamoto Megumi Turquoise Glaze Oval Plate

These are works by Megumi Miyamoto, who creates pottery in Habikino City, Osaka Prefecture.

Miyamoto's vessels are characterized by their beautiful forms and stunning turquoise glaze.
For her turquoise-glazed works, she selectively uses semi-porcelain and red clay, creating variations with the same glaze depending on the type of clay.
Since it is a crystalline glaze, no two patterns are the same, making each piece unique.
She mentions that she is very meticulous during firing, as the glaze is also sensitive to temperature.

In recent years, she has been introducing new glaze expressions with each exhibition.
You can appreciate the various forms of blue expressed by Miyamoto, such as the glossy, refreshing blue of her "Soteki Glaze," the latest "Yoi" series which has a purple hue that changes with light, and works that combine these different glazes.
