Ms. Kim creates her works using a unique technique that combines fusing and glassblowing.
She creates colors and patterns from individual glass pieces, then combines them and fires them into a flat sheet.
Next, she shapes them into three-dimensional forms using glassblowing, finishes them with a matte texture using sandblasting, and then meticulously polishes them to complete the work.
The overlapping colored surfaces and the beauty when light passes through them are reminiscent of "bojagi," traditional Korean fabric art.
