Mutsumi Ohashi Solo Exhibition "Circulation"
2026.1.10 – 1.18
Mutsumi Ohashi, who has a studio in Hokuto City, Yamanashi Prefecture, creates works that strongly draw out the properties of clay.
The rough texture and the beauty of modern forms.
Ohashi's charm lies in the coexistence of these two elements.
Ohashi uses both a wood-fired kiln, which is fired only a few times a year, and a kerosene kiln, which is used daily.
He creates his works by moving back and forth between processes, such as using ash from the wood-fired kiln as ash glaze and then firing it in the kerosene kiln.
This time, he is also attempting to re-fire works that were initially fired in the kerosene kiln, in the wood-fired kiln.
Each piece, having gone through the elements of earth, fire, and ash, returns once again to the flames.
The power that evokes the energy of nature and the quiet gaze that confronts the materials and processes.
We hope you can feel the current state of Mutsumi Ohashi's work.
