This piece is by woodworker Kinji Yoshida.
Mr. Yoshida creates his works in his studio in Minoh City, Osaka Prefecture.
He personally selects the wood, shapes it, hand-carves it, and finishes it with lacquer.
While retaining the organic beauty unique to hand-carving, the carefully aligned carved patterns are truly beautiful.
The "black lacquer" finish has a matte base, but also has a dark luster unique to lacquer.
The "white lacquer" boasts a unique, slightly bluish color.
Both finishes allow the wood grain of the base material to be felt.
