These are works by wood craftsman Kinji Yoshida.
Mr. Yoshida has a workshop in Minoh City, Osaka Prefecture, where he creates his pieces.
He personally selects the wood, shapes it, hand-carves it, and finishes it with lacquer.
While retaining the organic beauty unique to hand-carving, the carefully arranged carved patterns are very beautiful.
The "black lacquer" finish has a matte base, but it also has the dark luster characteristic of lacquer.
The "white lacquer" has a unique bluish tint that is very appealing.
Both finishes allow the wood grain of the base material to be felt.
His knowledge and skill in woodworking are evident.
These pieces are of reliable quality, as can be seen from his background as a furniture craftsman and woodworking instructor.
