Rentaro Arakawa, Kenji Omori: Duo Exhibition "Between Material and Construction"
April 11–19, 2026
We will be holding a joint exhibition by wood artist Rentaro Arakawa and ceramic artist Kenji Omori.
Mr. Arakawa applies multiple layers of "Urushi" lacquer to dried wood he has collected, bringing out the expressions hidden within the material.
In recent years, he has continued to explore new painting techniques and colors, further expanding the depth of his works.
On the other hand, Mr. Omori confronts the very color of the earth, shaping it by firing it at high temperatures.
His vessels possess both primitive strength and restrained, sharp forms.
The process of touching materials, adding to them, and bringing forms to life.
The interplay and tension within that process quietly reside in each of their works.
While grounded in traditional techniques, these two artists do not confine themselves to those frameworks, continuously engaging with the materials themselves.
This exhibition will feature works born from their ongoing exploration.

＜Rentaro Arakawa＞
Born in Tachikawa City, Tokyo in 1983.
He creates wooden artworks with a quiet presence by layering lacquer using his unique technique.

＜Kenji Omori＞
Born in Saitama Prefecture in 1982
2005 Graduated from Tokyo Zokei University, Environmental Design Department
2007 Completed the Tajimi City Ceramic Design Institute
2021 Moved to Okayama City and began working in a studio there
